Double glazing repairs

The Glass Shop London Ltd carries out expert glazing repairs for doors and windows affected by condensation or misting between the panes. Where possible, we replace individual panes or seals to avoid the need for full window or door replacement, saving you time and money. We also repair faulty double glazing components, including locks, hinges, and handles. Free quotes are available for both domestic and commercial double glazing repairs.

Misted double glazing

Double-glazed units generally have a life span of around 10 - 15 years, over time the seal between the two pieces of glass degrades. This degradation causes the vacuum to fail, allowing air between the two panels of glass, and moisture then has nowhere to escape and condensates inside the unit. The only way to fix this is with a replacement double-glazed unit.

Mechanisms, handles and hinges

Issues with mechanisms, hinges and handles can lead to more issues than failed sealed units. Problems that arise from faulty windows include:

  • Drafts due to windows' mechanisms not engaging properly, which leads to gaps between the casement and seals.

  • Drafts due to hinges not operating correctly, which leads to gaps in the seal.

  • Inoperable, rusted or broken hinges being stuck open

  • Lack of ventilation in rooms due to inoperable handles or mechanisms, which leads to mould and damp build-up around windows

If you are experiencing any of these issues, we are more than happy to help! Book a free local survey or call today to stop drafts and get your windows back in working order. We specialise in uPVC and aluminium window repairs.

FAQs

Q. How to get a quote

A. The fastest way to get a quote is to use the contact form below. If you are local to the DA16 area, we offer free surveying; if not, then please provide us with as much information as possible so we can provide an accurate quote.

Q. Lead time

A. Generally, our lead time is around 5-10 working days for uPVC repair work. Depending on the location and how busy we are. Toughened double-glazed units take 7 days from survey to be produced. Mechs, handles, and hinges are stocked on our vans and depending on our workload, may be repaired on the first visit

Q. Warranties and guarantees

A. All of our sealed units come with a manufacturer's warranty against misting. Warranties vary from 5 to 10 years, depending on the frame material and unit makeup. uPVC windows with our sealed units have a guarantee of 10 years against misting. For more information, please call or email!

Q. Survey and installation

A. Our surveying and installation practices hinge on professionalism and efficiency. On the survey, we send two glaziers to cross-reference measurements to avoid mis-measurement and unnecessary stress. Installs generally take around 30 minutes per unit, depending on the glazing platform. Our engineers carry mobile card machines, boot covers and will always clean up after themselves, making it as stress-free as possible.

Q. Deposits and payment

A. We require a 50% deposit on all works before any materials are put into production. The deposit can be made by card in-store, over the phone, or by bank transfer.

We take any Mastercard or Visa debit or credit card.

Final payments are due on install and can be done directly to the engineers who are equipped with mobile card machines.

Amazing service and value.

Fantastic service from the team at Glass Shop Welling. I had blown double glassing windows and doors, window locks that were broken and windows that were stuck shut. Not only did they sort all that for a competitive price, but as I was having issues removing shutters from two of my bedroom windows, they agreed to come back on another day, once I was ready for them to complete the work. Friendly service and I will be recommending to friends in the area. Excellent service

Fantastic and professional service from my initial email through to them completing the job which was to a very high quality. The team here really do an excellent job, are really friendly and offer the best solution for any glass window/door query you have even if you're not that knowledgeable about it. They are fully transparent in their quotes and offer very competitive prices. Definitely masters of their trade and would highly recommend them for any glasswork job big or small.

(Normally I only review food places on Google but when I am this impressed by a service and the work delivered I really do have to leave a review!)
